Web design is interesting, I've done it only a couple times before this. It's confusing at first but relatively easy to convey your thoughts. personally I'm not a fan of posting anything for the world to see. I feel like everyone will judge me.
Planning a website starts with an idea, then becomes something greater through time. You want it to look nice while making a lasting good impression. So it should have lots of photos and other videos to capture someones eye so they don't get bored. Important elements to include in web design is harmony (coherence and balance in the way things are put together), contrast (difference and opposition for separation attention), proportion (the balance between size and shape), rhythm (consistency, movement, flow, pattern and shape) and unity (it comes together and fits for the same purpose). Knowing someone audience can be tough normally I just stick with what I like, I mean if I like it then someone else will like it. But you should also figure out who your target audience is first. (kids, teens, adults?) after you figure that out you should figure out their they might be interested in, and include that.
